Post-completion obligations

Maintenance and warranty bonds

Support for repair, rectification and warranty obligations after completion, delivery or acceptance.

Submit this type of risk

A maintenance or warranty bond supports obligations that continue after practical completion or delivery. Depending on the contract, those obligations may include correcting defects, meeting performance tests, replacing faulty equipment or completing notified remedial work.

Titanium reviews the completed work, acceptance status, technology, warranty language and the applicant's practical ability to return and remedy issues. Exposure is not assumed to be lower simply because the main works are complete.

Important considerations

Structure remains case specific.

  • Latent-defect exposure is not the same as a contractual warranty bond.
  • Technology performance risk may require specialist review.
  • Clear notice, cure and expiry provisions support a defined exposure.

Common questions

Clear answers before submission.

Is a warranty bond product warranty insurance?

No. It supports specified obligations of the bonded applicant under a contract. The wording determines what is covered and who may make a demand.

Can it replace the maintenance portion of a performance bond?

Sometimes a dedicated post-completion bond replaces or reduces earlier security, but the transition must be explicit in the contract and bond wording.
